Fellow sailing enthousiast, welcome! For some reason, you have been browsing on the internet; looking for sailing stories, information or maybe just for the fun of it… and found my blog! I’m excited to get to know more sailing families, so if you would like to leave a comment or question don’t hesitate.
First, let me introduce myself. I’m a 43-year-old mother of 3 boys, aging 8-11-14. Me and their dad obtained a 36-ft Catalina sailing yacht a couple of years ago. We have been sailing with our children in other yachts since 2006, but decided we were ready to extend our sailing ambitions and sail abroad some time. Because the boys were also growing rapidly, we searched for a larger vessel with lots of comfortable space inside. After a bit of searching, comparing different boat types etc we decided that the C36 suited our needs.
After a very pleasant summertime getting to know this new boat, it was put in a winter dock and we spent many weekends doing maintenance of the hull. During that period, I also started the weblog about our sailing experiences (in Dutch). The hull was our biggest project that winter, but after relaunching the C36 the following spring, we continued to carry out a few smaller projects, and I also described a few sailing trips we performed. In order to reach a larger (international) audience, I recently decided to start blogging in English as well.
Most of my current blogs are either about maintenance projects, or sailing trips in the Netherlands (where we live, obviously). Since not all information in the stories may be really useful for readers from abroad, I will slightly adapt them for you. I think of my foreign audience as potential visitors/tourists that may come here with their own yacht or rental boat. My goal is to provide some information on where to go, what to see and help you decide whether a sailing holiday in the Netherlands will suit you and your family. So, if you have any question regarding the topics in my blog, please let me know and I will try to help you out!
I wish you lots of good sailing trips and hope you will enjoy the website…!
